Lindfield Village Day Competition Tent

Entries Now Closed

Welcome to the Competition Tent!

Lindfield Village Day’s Competition Tent brings together people of all ages in the spirit of friendly competition to show off their secret skills and not-so-hidden talents! Our categories celebrate our beautiful village and the natural world and - as always - encourage you to get creative. From homemade cakes to home-brewed drinks and crochet to poetry, there’s something for everyone to get stuck into.

Some of our categories are just for children, which will be judged in three age groups:

  • 5 and under
  • 6-10 years
  • 11-16 years.

The rest of the categories are open to all age groups, so whether you’re a keen baker, poet or artist, everyone can get involved. We love to see our village getting creative - what will you enter?

The 2024 Tent: What you need to know!

How to enter

We have 11 different categories to choose from this year, covering a range of creative disciplines, so you’re bound to find something to have a go at, whether you’d like to show us your existing talents or have a go at something new! You’ll find the full list below, and you can enter as many categories as you like for just £1 per item entered.

Entering is as simple as completing the registration form below and paying your fee! Or, if you’d prefer to register in person, pop into Ounce on the High Street (exact money only please).

Registration is open now and will close at 6pm on Thursday 30th May

This year, our new poetry categories (marked with an asterisk) can be entered in advance via email, so you don’t have to come to the Common early on Village Day. If you’d prefer, these entries can be submitted by email to up to 6pm on Thursday 30th May. We’ll print and display your entries for you. You can’t submit them too early, so why not get a head start during the Easter holidays?

On the day

You’ll find the Competition Tent on the Common again on Village Day, so make sure you come along on 1st June to say hi, deliver your entries and admire the community’s handiwork. All entries must be delivered to the tent on the Common between 9am and 10.45am (with the exception of poetry entries that have been pre-submitted via email).

The tent will be closed for judging between 10.45am and midday, when the tent will reopen for everyone to view and admire all of the entries, including those judged the best in each category. Come along to look at the village’s collective creativity and support your friends, family and neighbours!

Entries will need to be collected from us at the end of the day, from 4.30-5pm.
