Lindfield Village Day - Saturday 1st June 2024

Lindfield Village Day is a traditional village celebration of community, which takes place each year on the Common in Lindfield, West Sussex.
Celebrating its 46th year in 2024, the event expects to include the following: over 120 stalls on the Common, the Competition Tent, a children's dog show, a tasty Food & Drink Quarter (also on the Common), an arena for events/games during the afternoon, and we are bringing back the procession down the High Street - featuring hundreds of villagers making their way to the Common.
Lindfield Village Day is organised by a committed team of brilliant volunteers, as one of the key fundraising activities for Lindfield's King Edward Hall.

Procession News

Getting Village Day started!

This year the Village Day team are looking to make the procession bigger and better than ever. We'd love to see floats or vehicles involved in the procession down the high street for the first time.

If you have a vehicle (think flat-bed truck, small tractor with trailer, etc) you would like to offer up to be used for this for the day we'd love to hear from you!! If you are a Lindfield group, club, society or organisation who are keen to join in but aren’t sure how to get involved - then reach out to our dedicated procession team at and they'll be happy to help!

For many years the procession has been a great way for the community to come together on Village Local groups, clubs, schools, families and neighbours gather at Hickman’s Lane dressed or decorated according to the theme of the year, then parade down the High Street and onto the Common. This year we’re extremely grateful to have Oyster Care Homes sponsoring the procession this year, helping us pay for a fantastic band to join us and bring music to the street

This years theme is Olympic and Paralympic Opening Ceremony. We're looking to celebrate diversity and see as many countries represented down our high street to kick off the village day.

So far we've got a variety of countries "attending" from Kenya to Mexico to France, but we really want to see so many more. If you are interested in a taking part or just want more information, or have a vehicle you could offer up for the day please contact: Watch out for more details on the Lindfield Village Day Facebook page.

Please see below for all the information regarding float safety advice.

Below you will see a map of where we have zoned different stalls to help you navigate your way around.

The RTFJ Stage

We are welcoming back DJ Greg to the stage.

DJ Greg (Instagram) will start the day at 12.15pm, following the firing of the anvil, and has several sets throughout the day, including the warmup set for our headline act. DJ Greg started DJing when he was 8 years old using cassette tapes and became an international DJ and the resident DJ at Space in Ibiza in 1991. In 2015 he started a DJ school in Lindfield offering DJ lessons to kids and in 2017 he started offering lessons to adults, some of which have risen from beginner to international fame, DJing as residents at Hedkandi. You can expect him to get the crowd excited and dancing, taking them on a journey which will appeal to all age groups.

Will, the deputy head from Great Walstead will be banging his drums this year!

Will forms part of Phoenix Fires which started in 2017 as a rock covers band. Over the years their catalogue included a much wider range of genres, including funk, dance and even some rap. Their aim as a band is to play well known songs that you may not have heard being played by a covers band yet still get you up, dancing and singing along.

Phoenix Fires are based in and around Lindfield and can often be found playing in local pubs and other such establishments. Between them, they have decades of experience playing to a variety of audiences and are regular performers at Walstock, the Great Walstead School music festival. They have built up a reputation as one of the top cover bands in, not only Sussex and Kent, but the whole of the Southeast. There is no doubt that they will get you rocking and dancing.

Headlining The RTFJ Stage

We are delighted to announce that Murdoch’s Crazy Eyes will be our headline act this year.

Murdoch’s Crazy Eyes are not your average covers band! This awesome five piece deliver an immense concert experience, providing an unforgettable live music full of passion, energy, and charisma, with a lead singer with one of the most powerful and versatile voices you have ever heard live. Formed 15 years ago (Instagram), the band have been performing week in and week out together making them one of the tightest bands on the circuit.

Expect serious mashups from the word go, combined with some fun twists and turns throughout; so, like a DJ the music never stops. The bands repertoire covers modern chart hits from Bruno Mars, Dua Lipa and Taylor Swift, to the undeniable classic vibes of Michael Jackson, Tina Turner, and Queen. Lindfield common is sure to rocking again on Saturday 1st of June!

There's even more to enjoy

The Food and Drink QTR will also have some stalls to keep the children entertained with Joe Russell, from Football Fun Factory offering ‘Football Darts’, 172 (Haywards Heath) Squadron, Air Cadets displaying their Scottish Aviation Bulldog restoration project complimented by their VR simulators to try, Rummy Face Painting will be there to bring the colour and glitter and we are very excited to welcome Connor from The Outdoors Project, who will be offering “Build a Blobster” stall for kids of all ages to have a go at crafting and learn more about the exciting adventure clubs Outdoors Project runs in Lindfield.

We have thousands of local (and not so local) people come and visit our Village Day which makes it so special. Here's some of the recent messages we have received.
  • Lindfield Parish Council
The Parish Council wishes to express its thanks to the Village Day Organising Committee for the success of this year’s event. Councillors were extremely pleased to see the event was both well run and attended especially given the challenging time in which the event was organised. It was noted that the day after the event the Common was clear of any rubbish and this was due to the hard work of all those involved.

Just to say how much my team enjoyed the event last Saturday. The organisation was excellent, the friendliness of the public was great and the help given by the group from All Saints church was fantastic and quite made our day. We were lucky to be pitched next to them. We hope to return just making sure that the dogs on duty do not mind loud bangs!
